Brendon likes to think of himself as a nightlight. Something that can make the darkness go away and make you feel safe and maybe make you smile when you look at it. Of course, if he were a nightlight, he'd have a colorful lightbulb. Cause let's face it, a regular white lightbulb is just so...dull. No, he thinks he'd be an orange lightbulb. Or maybe a purple or blue or red one. Just not white; white's so boring. Void of color. Nothing.
And Brendon likes to think of himself as a small lightbulb. The round ones, not the complicated and fancy ones that are twisted and shaped. Cause Brendon's not that complicated to figure out, so he thinks a round lightbulb fits him pretty well. Maybe he'd like to be a fancy and complicated and twisted lightbulb, but that's just not him. Keeping it simple.
So Brendon likes to think of himself as a nightlight.

I liked this story a lot more than I should have, considering its length. I usually don't go for shorts/stories less than 800 words. Nonetheless, this flowed well and had a strong central theme. By the way, is there a background story for these people I should read? I get the feeling I would get more out of your shorts if I did.

When you write, put a space between punctuation and the next word. Otherwise it looks like a big jumble-o-words and it's very difficult to follow. It's quite distracting.
As for the story:
